Joy Doreen Biira is a Ugandan broadcast Journalist with over 10 years experience in mainstream Broadcast (Television, Radio & Print) and digital media.
She has worked with Kenya Television Network (KTN) headquartered in Kenya’s Capital, Nairobi as a Global News Anchor (2012-2017) with detailed knowledge on various subjects including and not limited to current affairs, sustainable economic development, technology, Youth and Women Empowerment, Girl Child Education, Climate Action, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Responsible Production and Consumption, Renewable Energy Solutions, Extractives (Mining, Oil and Gas) across East Africa, Africa and the Globe. She does live correspondence for DW Business Africa (2019). Biira is also a strategic communicator & digital media strategist.
As a media personality at https://www.ktnnews.com , Biira was a show host of “Business Today”, a one hour show that airs across 12 countries on the continent. The show breaks down economic matters to its viewers while speaking to drivers of businesses identifying the gaps businesses across Kenya and Africa might have and seeking solutions to these challenges. Kenya being the economic hub across East Africa, business leaders, economists, and analysts make it their business to make an appearance on the “Business Today” show that airs every week day at 1400hrs East African time on KTN News. Biira has engaged some of Africa’s great minds including Donald Kaberuka former President, AfDB , Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Chairperson AU Commission, Mukhisa Kituyi Sec. Gen. UNCTAD; corporate leaders such as E. In addition to her roles, Joy Doreen Biira at the beginning of January 2017 took on a role as host to International news environmental show #EcoAfrica on https://www.dw.com/eco-at-africa which he co hosts with Nigeria Nneota Egbe of Channels TV.
As moderator, Biira hosts, facilitates and participates in high level events and panel session discussion. Some of them include Renewable Energy Solutions conference 2018 in Rome-Italy https://www.res4africa.org , https://www.afidep.com #ADIC2016 in Zurich-Switzerland, the https://www.res4africa.org conference in Nairobi, Kenya among other key events. Biira’s versatility and flexibility to report on Africa’s current affairs (political, social, economic and cultural) has groomed her into an informed moderator on issue based events across Africa and the globe.
In 2017, She also took on a 2 year role as Communication Advisor at the Kenya Ministry of Mining under the Kenya Extractives Strategic Advisory Facility funded by UNDP and DfID Kenya. This role enabled her facilitate engagement between investors and the Ministry. Through this role she was also able to further facilitate communication and engagement with stakeholders such as the media, NGOs, CSOs, community and the Ministry.
